VocMac Build 052 is a major update whose structure and user interface have been completely remodeled.

It is FileMaker 7-based now fusing all former modules into one relational database.

• VocMac ships in 2 completely localized versions in German, English and French that open automatically in your system language:
  • VocMac_M for Mac OS X
  • VocMac_W for Windows
• All layouts display a unified menubar leading you to the most important parts of the dictionary.
• Information about the function(s) of a button is obtained by clicking the button while keeping the shift-key pressed.
• VocMac now offers a write-protected query layout that can be called by clicking the Find-button in vocmac'a menu bar.
  • STRING launches a quick search in the field indices D, E, or F
  • INDEX launches queries in all important field indices, including grammar, subject matter, and annotations
• The results of a query are displayed automatically in form of printable word lists. Their format (vertical or horizontal) can be chosen by the user.
• New online bug reporting and bug tracking system

VocMac's new edition presents more than 17,800 main entries illustrating about 150 subject matters dealing with the world of computers. More than 30 new subject matters have been added.

The entire corpus of the dictionary and the classification of individual records as to given subject matters have been completely revised, doubles have been eliminated, content errors and typos corrected.

The sub-menu Preferences of the main menu VocMac-Scripts offers a new option for registered users letting them submit the negative result of a query to the developer by e-mail.

VocMac's new edition presents more than 19,200 main entries illustrating over 450 subject matters dealing with the world of computers.

VocMac's original main subject matters have been complemented by more than 325 sub-categories, so that subject-matter queries - one of VocMac's outstanding features - can be considerably refined.

New HyperSearch-Scripts extend the search of text strings to any field of the "Browse" layout, and this globally in VocMac's entire corpus or individually in any of the three languages of the dictionary. In order to launch a hypersearch, you simply highlight the search string of your choice and either click the HyperSearch-button or any of the three flag-icons symbolizing the language of your choice.

In this new FileMaker 8-based version, VocMac's user interface offers some interesting new functiionalities:
– QuickInfo about all important desktop elements,
– Auto-completion to quickly and securely entering data in special fileds with predefined values,
– Tabbed Layouts to present more Information in a single layout, thus avoiding desktop clutter,
– Using the scroll-wheel when browsing field contents.

VocMac's new Universal Binary version is FileMaker 8.5-based and offers immediate access from individual dictionary records to selected Web sites, thus improving greatly the usability of the dictionary.

Release 70.02 - downloadable since May/10/2007 - is a minor service update fixing two navigation bugs and offering a user-friendlier setup procedure.
